B1 “What is Stress?” Pre-AI-era demo lesson package prepared for Secondary English: target group is a mixed cohort of mainly B1-B2 level high school students; brief was to use client-provided excerpted passage “What is Stress?” from their custom materials to develop and demo CEFR-aligned plan and accompanying materials bridging students to their proprietary objective assessments. Proprietary material has been redacted.

Lesson Plan: 80-minute lesson, LOs: read & discuss an academic text; use context to understand specialized vocabulary; find main points & paragraph topics using reviewed/reinforced surveying, skimming, and scanning skills; determine author’s purpose and POV; evaluate and compare peer opinions on the topic with author’s views on the topic; use skills for accurate prediction and effective comprehension of a challenging article with technical lexis. LP Includes anticipatory set, optional grammar review (conditionals & relative clauses); lexis expansion/ categorization; peer-to-peer evaluation; discussion for opinion comparison with supporting mindmap, knowledge organizer/exit ticket; and data-driven evaluation of formative assessment materials for flexpoint adjustment of subsequent instruction and progressing to a flipped-classroom approach for peer leadership in brainstorming activities.
